Project 04: Integrating Technology into the Curriculum
As part of INTC 5330 Integrating Technology in the Curriculum, the "Blooket Challenge Review" professional development session equips teachers with the skills to integrate game-based learning into their instruction using Blooket. This training introduces educators to the platform's features, demonstrating how Blooket can transform formative assessment into an engaging and competitive experience that boosts student participation, collaboration, and retention.
During the session, teachers explore how to create and customize content-specific review games using Blooket’s question sets or library of existing resources. They learn how correct answers earn students in-game rewards and power-ups, turning assessment into a motivational experience. The training also emphasizes how Blooket’s real-time feedback and built-in analytics can help educators identify learning gaps and adjust instruction accordingly. Through hands-on practice and guided collaboration, this session supports teachers in using technology to enhance instruction and drive data-informed teaching.

Proposed Solution
To empower educators with engaging tools for formative assessment, a professional development session titled "Gamify Your Classroom with Blooket" was developed and delivered using the ADDIE instructional design model. This session introduced teachers to Blooket as a dynamic platform for transforming content review into an interactive game experience that boosts student motivation and content retention.

The training included the following components:
-
Needs Analysis
Surveys and informal feedback from teachers indicated a strong interest in digital tools that support student engagement, formative assessment, and differentiated instruction. Many educators were aware of game-based learning but lacked experience with Blooket’s full range of features. -
Instructional Design
The workshop was structured around clear learning objectives:-
Understand the purpose and pedagogical value of Blooket
-
Create and customize Blooket games aligned with curriculum standards
-
Use game modes strategically for different content areas and student needs
-
Analyze game results to identify misconceptions and adjust instruction
-
-
Hands-On Development
Teachers participated in a step-by-step walkthrough that included:-
Creating a teacher account and exploring the dashboard
-
Building a custom question set or importing from Blooket’s library
-
Exploring different game modes (e.g., Gold Quest, Tower Defense, Café)
-
Running live and homework games with sample classes
-
-
Implementation and Collaboration
Teachers applied what they learned by creating a game tied to an upcoming lesson. They then shared their games in small groups, discussed implementation strategies, and received peer feedback. A collaborative resource bank of teacher-created Blooket sets was established for future use. -
Evaluation and Reflection
Participants completed a feedback survey and short reflection describing how they plan to integrate Blooket in their classroom. Post-training follow-up included optional coaching support and access to a Blooket resource hub.

This training not only built teacher confidence in using Blooket but also emphasized its alignment with formative assessment best practices. It empowered educators to create engaging, student-centered learning environments where instant feedback and gameplay enhance understanding across content areas.
